Sash Window Restoration and Repair
Draughtproofing Double Glazing New Joinery
Mill House Window Workshop
Started in 2002, we operate from a large workshop in North Hertfordshire.
We work regularly with local conservation officers in all the areas we cover, and have restoration experience covering all types of buildings and window styles.
We place emphasis on sympathetic restoration with appropriate materials, and which are in keeping with the appearance of the building.
Our aim is to produce work which will stand the test of time.
We use simple perimeter draught seals which are machined into staff, parting beads and the meeting rail, so that they can't be seen. Our unique draught seals are not the brush type which clog with paint and lose their effectiveness but are a proprietry material that is more resistant to dirt and paint.
Where new catches are required or where there are no sash lifts, we use only solid brass catches to match the other originals within the property. We can provide a selection of reproduction solid cast brass catches lifts and 'D' handles.
In addition to standard glass, we are able to offer restoration glass, this has a pleasing gentle wave in all directions and gives the effect of hand-blown cylinder glass. We also offer hand-blown glass to match glass in pre-Victorian properties.
We provide heritage double glazed units that are thin enough to be fitted in place of the existing glass. This provides the benefits of double glazing and keeps the structural integrity of the window. Our units allow all the glazing bars to be kept intact and the units are designed to be puttied in keeping with the traditional look of your windows.
